tried to cut the grass when i got home but the mower had a flat.  i figured since i was already set to do some yard work i would take care of this little project.

i was surprised at how easy the job went.  we’ve had a lot of rain lately so the ground was nice and soft, making it easy to get under and rip it out.  i probably could have done the whole thing in half the time if i hadn’t been taking pictures, but then i wouldn’t have been able to show you this video.  see, i’m putting my life on the line for you people.  well, maybe just my free time.  but still, that has to count for something, no?

The Chase

Posted by bee3six5 on April 25, 2010

this took me FOR. EH. VER. to do.  it was all my own fault though.  i ended up taking about 700 pictures total the first time around.  besides Windows Movie Maker giving me trouble, the final product was slow as hell.  so i took out ever other picture and tried that.  still looked slow, so i took out every other once again.  so i took 700+ pictures and ended up using only 186.  lots of time wasted, but that’s how you learn, right?  so it turned out looking like this:

so that’s what took me about 3 hours last night and another 2 or 3 this morning.  i think it was well worth the time though.  i mean, at least i’m pleased with the final product.  of course i have to thank Dr Dog for the background music.

i know, i know, i’m LATE again.  what do you want from me?  no, seriously, tell me what you want from me in the comments, i’d love to hear your praise.  or sarcasm.  anything really.

see you tomorrow (actually, i’ll be posting again before midnight, so i’ll see you then)

visual t(r)ip: making your (or in this case ‘my’) own light box, very cheap, very awesome, very easy

Posted by bee3six5 on April 22, 2010

Steff is out at her friend Shannon’s for the night.  (i’m gonna party!)  so i thought i would take the time to build myself a light box so i can take some product pictures for Steff’s aunt, Kate. (i’m a nerd!) (and lots of name dropping!)  it was really easy after reading through these directions from

here’s how it all went down.

it was a weird day: was it raining? was it sunny?  was there some guy walking around with an orange vest and a gun?

i got everything here for under $15.50, save the few items i had on hand

cut box (i measured 1 and 1/2 inches in from the edge)

cover insides with white (i used poster board) (i also could have done a better job) (i’m sloppy)

add the ‘background’ (again, just poster board) (also wanna try black)

then cover all the open areas with a cut up 2XL Hanes tee-shirt

cut open a window in the front (i probably should have cut it the other way)

set up some light

the zumi isn’t really built to take close range pictures

extreme close-ups are a different story

since the zumi was kind of a bust with this ‘shoot’ i thought i’d show you a-one or a-two of the pictures i took with my Nikon

and (probably my favoritest picture of all time, i present to you, ladies and gentlemen, zumi) a-two

that’s all for now.  i kinda went overboard.  but it was fun, i’m excited to take some pictures of actual products.  if you sell things on eBay, or etsy, or anything like that, you should definitely take the time to make yourself a light box.  light tents in the stores cost about $100, for a cheap one.  so make yourself a cheap one for just over $15 instead.  in case you forgot, here are the instructions again.

the long and winding

Posted by bee3six5 on April 12, 2010

have you read Cormac McCarthy’s The Road?  maybe you saw the movie.  either way, this post has nothing to do with that, other than the fact that i made another live action stop motion animation, this time of my driveway.  here it is.

so there’s that.

this post should be over already, but Steff demanded i include this picture.  if you’ve for problems with that you can take it up with her.  i call this one ‘double lips’

see you tomorrow

ya know, fate has a funny way of coming around

Posted by bee3six5 on February 15, 2010

me mum told me this story today, thought i’d share the abridged version with you.

we’ve got two characters:  Lloyd, whose wife recently fell ill, and Lenny, who has a son who recently graduated from Georgetown.  Lloyd somehow got tickets for a Rutgers/Georgetown football game and gave them to Lenny so that Lenny could take his son.  Lenny tried to repay Lloyd, but Lloyd wanted nothing in return.  He told Lenny to take the tickets and enjoy the game.  But Lenny protested, saying he must do something.  Lenny told Lloyd that he would purchase a box for a Super Bowl pool and should he win, split the prize with Lloyd.  Well sure enough they won the prize for the final score.  ten grand.  they split the money.  me mum refered to the story as ‘real life karma.’

and with that i thought i’d update you on my quest to fold 1000 paper cranes.  i’m up to 118.

it’s slow going, but my goal is to finish before BeZuFoCha is over.  i think 11 months is plenty of time.  any guesses on how many paper cuts i’ll have gotten by the time i’m done?

see you tomorrow

17 down, 983 to go

Posted by bee3six5 on January 23, 2010

when i was in 6th grade, a friend of mine turned me on to origami.  well i say turned me on to, but what i really mean is that i learned how to make a cup and that’s about as far as i got.  anywho… there’s an ancient Japanese legend, the Senbazuru, that says if you make 1000 paper cranes you get a wish.  so that’s what i started today: making my Senbazuru.

it’s a modest start, no?  i learned how to and made 17 cranes between yesterday and today.  as long as i keep up this same rate, i should be done about two months from now.  though i’m sure it’ll take me longer than that, i’ll be sure to keep you all updated on my progress.

anyone have any thoughts on what i should wish for?  i have a few ideas rolling around in my head.  once i get a little closer to the 1000 mark i’ll have a better idea.  do i have to be thinking of my wish the whole time?  or just when i’m folding the last one?  i’ll let you know all that after it’s been granted.  if i do it right…

see you tomorrow
